In 2020 the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University was chosen to lead the Transforming Teacher Education (TTE) Activity in Zambia. One of the exciting aspects of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project was providing scholarships for instructors in Zambia to complete an online master’s degree program from FSU. This summer Virginia Muzyamba and Charles Zuze completed the program and earned their master’s degrees in elementary education.

Florida State University faculty and staff have begun their work in Egypt on the Teacher Excellence Initiative. The five-year, $49.5 million United States Agency for International Development project is supported by an international collaboration between FSU's Learning Systems Institute and College of Education, including faculty from the School of Teacher Education. The Teacher Excellence Initiative project is implemented by the Education Development Center consortium.

​​​​​​​Jim Reynolds has an expansive role at Florida State’s Learning Systems Institute (LSI) as a Science Content Specialist and Curriculum Coordinator for the CPALMS team. His work is essential for furthering education as CPALMS is the official source for course descriptions and standards in Florida and provides benchmarks for general education classes. CPALMS offers 12,000+ high-quality educational resources developed by K-12 educators and FSU faculty. There are more than 1,300 original tutorials for students to use anytime and anywhere.

LSI's CPALMS team is leading two significant events in Tallahassee for Florida teachers with more than 280 educators in the capital city for Integrated Civics Professional Development workshops. The Integrated Civics PD will take place over two weeks in June.
