Subhasree Sengupta holds a joint appointment position with the Learning Systems Institute and the School of Information.  As an interdisciplinary researcher, she focuses on the areas of collaborative learning, care and support and equity-focused design. Her scholarly work has investigated how online channels can provide extended opportunities for care and community-building tactics that can help shape informal learning and professional development visions of the technical workforce, especially for underrepresented groups engaged in these contexts. Given the surging influence of AI in various capacities within collaborative contexts, she has also worked on understanding ethical visions and standpoints needed to design as well as deploy such agents in critical operations.  Expanding on her prior scholarship,  she is interested in understanding how collaborative learning systems infused with AI can be envisioned to bolster inclusion and accessibility. In parallel, to prepare for the coming AI age, another arm of her research will focus on Responsible AI training tools and curriculum across multiple contexts and domains.
