James Reynolds

James Reynolds, Co-Director of STEM Outreach for the Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University, brings over 25 years of experience in science education and STEM integration. Reynolds has diverse expertise spans across various science curricula, including biology, marine biology, ecology, physical science, earth sciences, technology and computer science. Throughout his career, he has developed and presented STEM-integrated curricula and professional development programs nationwide. Mr. Reynolds plays a pivotal role at LSI, where he supervises a multidisciplinary team that works domestically and internationally, developing curriculum, teacher professional development, and resources featured on CPALMS.

Reynolds co-leads FSU’s InSPIRE educational programming, demonstrating a profound commitment to fostering educational advancement and economic development. This program is designed to ignite economic opportunities and enhance workforce development in Florida's panhandle by advancing teachers' understanding and instructional methods in innovative STEM disciplines, including advanced manufacturing and aerospace innovations, and emerging technologies such as AI.

Reynolds has reached thousands of teachers through professional learning programs designed to enhance teacher content knowledge and pedagogical approaches through innovative methodologies such as 3D printing and integration of technology in teaching. Mr. Reynolds’ dedication extends globally as he has led initiatives to build education capacities, notably co-leading the USAID Uzbekistan Education for Excellence Program to develop mathematics content standards for the Uzbekistan Ministry of Education and working with teachers to expand their content pedagogy in Bangladesh.

Reynolds is at the forefront of Career and Technical Education (CTE) projects, leading a team to create resources for K-12 teachers aimed at preparing students for the future workforce. His work includes leading after-school programs that integrate STEM with coding concepts across various fields such as nanotechnology, semiconductors, and agricultural science, thereby ensuring students receive a comprehensive and future-ready education.

Reynolds' passion for inquiry-based pedagogy and the integration of cutting-edge technologies is evident in the diverse curricula he has authored. His goals are to further innovative approaches to enhancing STEM education and professional development, thereby making a profound impact on the broader educational landscape.
