Carrie Meyers

InSPIRE’s Director of Education and Workforce Talent

Carrie Meyers brings three decades of experience in mathematics education, STEM integration, curriculum development, and educator professional learning to her work at Florida State University’s Learning Systems Institute. She serves as InSPIRE’s Director of Education and Workforce Talent and previously served as Co-Director of STEM Outreach at LSI. Throughout her career, Meyers has worked with K–20 students and educators, authored and edited K–12 STEM curricula, and written two student mathematics books.

Mathematics and integrated STEM learning have remained central to Meyers’ work. As a member of the FCR–STEMLearn team, she contributed to statewide professional learning that strengthened teachers’ mathematics and science content knowledge and helped them integrate engaging STEM experiences into classroom instruction. Her work has also included developing curriculum and professional learning that use 3D printing and 3D-printed instructional models to make mathematics, science, and engineering learning more interactive and accessible.

Meyers directed LSI’s Integrated Civics professional learning program, which brought nearly 300 Florida educators to Tallahassee for intensive professional learning and curriculum development. The program strengthened educators’ civics content knowledge while preparing them to integrate Florida’s civics standards into English language arts, mathematics, science, coding, STEM, and other content areas. Carrie coordinated the teams responsible for the program and helped educators translate immersive experiences at locations such as the Florida Supreme Court, the State Capitol, Cascades Park, and Wakulla Springs into standards-aligned instructional resources for Florida classrooms.

At LSI, Meyers previously managed a team that developed K–12 e-learning tutorials and resources featured on CPALMS. As a co-principal investigator, she led the mathematics team that helped guide Florida in creating its first computer-based Pre-K–2 assessment. The work left the state with a research-based foundation for assessing young learners—one grounded in developmental appropriateness and learning trajectories and designed to provide meaningful feedback for instruction.

Through InSPIRE, Meyers now leads initiatives connecting education, emerging technologies, and regional workforce needs. She is helping modernize professional learning through hands-on, career-connected courses that strengthen educators’ content knowledge and pedagogical expertise while preparing students for the future of work.

InSPIRE coursework builds educators’ AI literacy and helps them understand and responsibly integrate machine learning, prompt engineering, and other emerging technologies into K–12 classrooms. Educators learn to use AI as a collaborative tool to co-design standards-aligned, high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) that promote critical thinking, engineering design, and authentic problem-solving. Courses in 3D printing, robotics, and computational thinking also help teachers incorporate durable/soft skills that industry partners consistently identify as essential for future employees.

In 2025, the InSPIRE workforce development team Meyers co-led received the Ralph Stair Prize in Innovative Education for its innovative AI professional learning courses. Meyers and her colleagues later shared this work at UCF’s Teaching and Learning with AI Conference and were selected to present internationally at the inaugural Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe Conference, hosted by Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands in October 2026.

Meyers works with state colleges, school districts, industry partners, FLATE, FloridaMakes, economic development organizations, and workforce organizations to connect K–12 academics and career and technical education (CTE) with regional workforce priorities. A central focus of this work is examining how curriculum, instructional experiences, AI literacy, and CTE programs can be aligned across K–12 and higher education to create coherent pathways into postsecondary programs, industry credentials, and high-demand careers. These partnerships help learners progressively develop knowledge and skills while increasing awareness of educational and career opportunities throughout Northwest Florida communities.

Her leadership in strengthening education, workforce development, and industry collaboration was recognized when she was named the 2026 FLATE Distinguished Manufacturing Partner Service Award winner.

Meyers' work also extends internationally. She has contributed to projects that build capacity for STEM education and support the implementation of educational standards in Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. She has also designed and led afterschool programs that give students opportunities to explore nanotechnology, semiconductors, agricultural technology, coding, and other STEM fields beyond the conventional school day.

Meyers' career reflects a consistent focus on building educational systems that last. Whether developing statewide resources, preparing teachers to integrate content areas, or creating new approaches to assessment and professional learning, she works to turn promising ideas into practical, scalable solutions. Through LSI, Carrie brings together research, educator expertise, and innovation to improve teaching and learning in Florida and beyond.
