Learning System Institute, The World Bank And ICESCO To Host Global Education Conference In Morocco This Summer

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University will co-host a global education conference in Morocco next summer. LSI will join the World Bank and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) to host the "Educators Shaping Futures: A Global Conference on Teacher Preparation and Development" conference June 23-24 in Rabat.

The two-day conference, followed by a learning event for two days, will gather a diverse group of participants who are involved in designing, delivering and maintaining the quality of teacher preparation and development and will include government officials, academic leaders, teacher representative organizations, school and district-level administrators, researchers, NGOs, private sector, initial teacher education providers and teachers.

The conference aims to share the latest research findings and global experiences on preparing and developing sustainable cadres of teachers with the talent, commitment and support to contribute to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all. This conference will serve as a platform for sharing insights, building solutions and networking across sectors to enhance teacher preparation and development worldwide.

“This conference is exciting because it’s a rare opportunity to focus specifically on teacher preparation and development, which are critical to the success of education systems but often receive limited policy and research attention globally,” said Dr. Stephanie Simmons Zuilkowski, LSI’s Associate Director for Research.

The conference will feature the launch of The World Bank's report "From Prospective to Prepared Teacher: A Global Study of Initial Teacher Education." In addition to initial teacher education, other themes include attracting and selecting future teachers, induction and continuous professional development, contextual challenges and opportunities, such as teacher shortages, community and contract teachers, efficient and effective use of technology, and conflict or post-conflict locations.
