Updating the work done by the Learning System Institute (LSI) at Florida State University in 2022. LSI is currently working on international projects with education professionals from Egypt, Lebanon, Malawi, the Philippines, Rwanda, Uzbekistan, and Zambia. We started 15 new projects this year, and our portfolio of research and development grants reached $63 million in funding, allowing us to surpass the $750 million mark in lifetime contracts and grant awards. Since the instituteโs inception, LSI has significantly contributed to education in 44 countries around the globe.

My burning passion to improve the quality of basic education in the world, especially in developing countries, inspired me to apply to Florida State University. I was excited to learn from world-class faculty members in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, especially Dr. Stephanie Zuilkowski.

The STEP Activity aims at strengthening the capacity of Teacher Training Colleges to train teachers in early-grade instruction. This aim is aligned to the Ministry of Educationโs National Reading Program (NRP), which is being implemented in Standards 1 - 4 of Malawiโs primary schools. STEP also aims at providing pathways for continuing professional development for all of Malawiโs primary teachers to excel.

โFor 53 years, the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University has worked with 44 countries and received awards surpassing $750,000,000. During this time, LSI has established itself asone of the worldโs leading institutes for developing and implementing innovative learning solutions. The faculty and staffโs impactful work continued this year, collaborating on International projects with educators, governments and organizations from seven countries in addition to numerous projects in the United States.

In 2021, Rabieh Razzouk was named the director of the Learning Systems Institute after nearly two decades working for the institute. While the position comes with an array of responsibilities, encouraging the faculty and staff to work on projects they're passionate about while assisting them with whatever they need to excel sits atop his list.
