South African College Administrators And Officials Will Participate In Program Implemented By LSI
Tallahassee, FL – The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announced Thursday that the Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University (FSU) will welcome approximately 20 South African college administrators and officials to Tallahassee. The delegation will visit as part of the Community College Administrator Program (CCAP), implemented by LSI in partnership with Santa Fe Community College.
LSI has been working with the U.S. Department of State on the CCAP program since 2013. During that time, 13 groups from 14 countries have taken part in the program that aims to improve technical and vocational education at the post-secondary level by bringing high-level college administrators and officials from other countries examine the key tenets of community college administration and workforce development strategies.
According to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, approximately 20 South African college administrators and officials with higher education planning responsibilities will travel to the United States for an in-depth professional development seminar to examine and share perspectives on innovative programs at U.S. community colleges that address workforce development needs in 2024. Dr. Jeffrey Milligan of LSI has been the Principal Investigator on the project since it was awarded.
"We are honored by the trust the U.S. Department of State continues to place in LSI and our partners at Santa Fe College to implement this important program,” said Dr. Milligan. “Over the last 10 years CCAP has contributed to the ability of participating countries to develop the skilled labor they need for economic development while also broadening the international outlook of Florida's community colleges. We look forward to our continuing partnership with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs."
