Celia Reddick Awarded Globally Competitive Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship

Celia Reddick, Ph.D., a member of the Learning Systems Institute and an Assistant Professor of Education and International Development FSU ELPS, has been awarded a 2026-28 Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship. The globally competitive program supports early- and mid-career researchers whose work advances understanding of how children and youth learn and develop across contexts and systems.

The Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship supports research across disciplines including education sciences, psychology, economics, sociology, behavioral science, neuroscience, linguistics, computer science, pedagogy, and the science of learning. Reddick studies education in contexts of conflict and crisis, examining within-group and contextual variability in refugee education. The fellowship will support Reddick to examine the role of language policies and pedagogy in refugee children’s learning across contexts. 

“I am grateful to the Jacobs CIFAR Fellowship for this opportunity and look forward to joining a phenomenal cohort of researchers,” said Reddick. “The fellowship will enable me to develop a cross-national study of approaches to language and literacy education among refugee learners, a topic of growing urgency.”

The Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship has a special focus on work to understand and embrace variability in learning; promote the generation, transfer, and practical application of evidence on human learning and development or increase the capacity to scale up effective education policies and practices.

Fellowships are awarded to highly talented and innovative early and mid-career researchers who have received their PhD within the past 10 years. According to the Jacobs Foundation, the ideal fellow does not only have a great research idea but also a significant potential as a researcher to contribute as part of interdisciplinary teams within and beyond the network of the Jacobs Foundation.
