The Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University has received its first-ever grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Florida State University’s faculty and staff are central to its mission and the key to its countless accomplishments. Throughout the year, honors and recognitions are awarded to individual faculty and staff members across campus. Faculty and Staff Briefs are produced monthly to recognize accomplishments and provide a space where honors, awards, bylines, presentations, grants, service and any other notable items can be showcased.

The Florida Philanthropic Network (FPN) has awarded Florida State University’s Learning Systems Institute (LSI) a grant to implement the “Afterschool Math Success: Developing the Vision and Support” project. The grant will be implemented by LSI’s Florida Center for Research in STEM (FCR-STEM), with Carrie Meyers, LSI’s Director of STEM Outreach, serving as the Principal Investigator.

Bhushan Dahal, a graduate research assistant at the Learning Systems Institute and Ph.D. student at the FSU College of Education, Health and Human Science, has been selected by the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) as a 2024-26 Jackson Scholar.

It was remarkable to discuss how LSI improves learning worldwide with UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis. We are deeply grateful for his visit and for his colleagues' support.

Selected as one of the few BridgeUSA fellows, Dr. Andrii Balendr spent July immersed in the academic life and diverse community at Florida State University. During this time, he gained valuable insights and best practices to inform his development of English curricula tailored to various categories of personnel.
