Zambian Fellows Feel The Impact Of The Transforming Teacher Education Activity While At FSU

The Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University is in its fourth year of leading the Transforming Teacher Education (TTE) activity in Zambia, sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). One of the opportunities extended by the program is a semester-long residency at FSU for select Zambian teacher educators. This past fall, LSI hosted Senior Lecturers Namushi Situtu and Sandra Mulesu.

In 1969, the Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University was founded to improve learning and human performance globally. More than 50 years later, LSI at FSU remains at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that bridge theory and practice in education. In 2023, the institute continued to lead the way in learning and human performance, specifically in Malawi, Egypt, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Rwanda and Zambia.

Primary Teacher Residency Pilot Program For TTCS Launched

Kigali, October 4, 2023: The Minister of Education, Hon. Gaspard Twagirayezu, along with the Director-General of Rwanda Basic Education, Dr. Nelson Mbarushimanana, and other representatives from esteemed Education Partners, officially launched the pilot program for the Primary Teacher Residency Program. The primary objective of this program is to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in 21st-century skills, with a focus on English proficiency and digital literacy, among other areas.

LSI-Led Transforming Teacher Education In Zambia Activity Enters Year Four

The Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University has been building systems to improve learning and human performance for 54 years. LSI’s blend of experience and innovation was on full display during the recently completed Uzbekistan Education for Excellence Program funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Zambian Instructors Earn FSU Master’s Degree As Part Of The Transforming Teacher Education Activity

In 2020 the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University was chosen to lead the Transforming Teacher Education (TTE) Activity in Zambia. One of the exciting aspects of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded project was providing scholarships for instructors in Zambia to complete an online master’s degree program from FSU. This summer Virginia Muzyamba and Charles Zuze completed the program and earned their master’s degrees in elementary education.

FSU Campus Collaboration Making An Impact On LSI's International Education Project In Egypt

Florida State University faculty and staff have begun their work in Egypt on the Teacher Excellence Initiative. The five-year, $49.5 million United States Agency for International Development project is supported by an international collaboration between FSU's Learning Systems Institute and College of Education, including faculty from the School of Teacher Education. The Teacher Excellence Initiative project is implemented by the Education Development Center consortium.
