Flavia Ramos-Mattoussi had already worked in the field of International Development for over 35 years when she joined the Learning Systems Institute in 2009. Over the past 13 years, she has made great contributions to LSI's work in international education.

Cyndi Harlow began working with the Learning Systems Institute in 2006 as an accounting associate. Nowadays, her role consists of parasailing, guided tours, and cooking lessons with people from all over the world.

CPALMS.org is primarily geared towards teachers and houses a variety of student, parent, and teacher resources. At the same time, FloridaStudents.org was designed for students to only showcase CPALMS’ student resources. Over 100,000 teachers in Florida already utilize materials on the CPALMS website. Students are also increasingly taking advantage of their access to FloridaStudents.org.

Since the inception of LSI, we have worked on projects in dozens of countries. We have learned that we share the same challenges in education across the globe, and a lot more can be done if we collaborate on these issues. In my role as the Director of LSI, I hope to support and facilitate our team to do so.

As a graduate student in mathematics, I was hired as a math expert to work with teachers. Through that work, I observed many math classes and witnessed an impoverished version of mathematics being experienced by many children. I wanted to help improve their learning opportunities in mathematics and changed my focus from mathematics to mathematics education.
